Return to Virtual Learning: A Message From Superintendent Lolli
Dear Dayton Public Schools Families:
To continue to maintain a safe learning environment for all, students will continue with virtual instruction after the extended break.
When school resumes on Monday, January 4, 2021, students will learn virtually from home. Students will remain virtual through Friday, February 19, 2021. During this time, students will continue to work with their DPS teachers. There will be no face-to-face instruction, except as mentioned below.
The goal is for all students to return for face-to-face instruction beginning Monday, February 22, 2021. However, this is dependent upon the COVID-19 circumstances at that time, and changes may still be made.
Virtual Schedules: January 4, 2021 – February 19, 2021 Elementary: 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Monday-Friday
Middle School: 9 a.m. – 2:15 p.m., Monday-Friday
45-minute periods, 6 periods per day
High school: 9 a.m. – 2:15 p.m., Monday-Friday Periods 1-4 on Mondays and Thursdays
Periods 5-8 on Tuesdays and Fridays
8 periods on Wednesday (shortened classes)
Please also note the following important changes:
Athletic practices will resume the week of December 28th.
In-person CTE labs, AP Biology labs and Stivers magnet labs will be scheduled by individual buildings. More information will be shared by schools soon.
Daily meal delivery will begin Monday, January 4, 2021. Each DPS student is eligible to receive free meals Monday-Friday, but must sign up to be added to the delivery list.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as the district navigates the pandemic. The situation is constantly changing, and consequently, we need to be flexible in how we provide schooling. All decisions are made with the safety of students and staff in mind. Sincerely, Elizabeth J. Lolli, Ph.D. Superintendent
